Central Oregon Junior Golf Association (COJGA) is excited to unveil its 2024 development programs for young golfers ages 4-18. Registration is now open for Spring and Summer golf programs. Since 1993, the nonprofit organization has committed to nurturing growth, integrity, and sportsmanship among young athletes through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates vital life lessons with golf skills development. This year, COJGA is expanding its reach to engage even more young people interested in the sport, setting the stage to redefine the junior golfing experience in Central Oregon.

Discover Golf (Ages 4-7) – This program focuses on engaging the youngest golfers with interactive and social games, emphasizing movement, play, and the foundational skills necessary for golf and life. The intuitive, environment-driven approach ensures a fun and memorable introduction to golf. After school program sessions start April 1 and run throughout the summer.  No experience or equipment is necessary.

Play to Learn (Ages 7-12) – Building on the foundation set in Discover Golf, participants will engage in task and strategy-driven quests, fostering a community through competition and cooperative learning. Emphasizing the Latin root of “compete” – to strive together – this program highlights the importance of learning through play, observation, and supportive interactions. After school program sessions start April 1 and run throughout the summer. No experience or equipment is necessary.

Play to Compete (Ages 10-14) – For golfers ready to dive deeper into the game, this program offers a blend of coaching strategies, including course management, technique,  and on-course instruction. Participants will explore both inner (trust, commitment, confidence) and outer (fitness, technique, equipment) perspectives to enhance their game and personal growth. After school program sessions start April 4 and run throughout the summer.

Mentoring & Work in Golf (Ages 15-18) – This segment offers seasoned players the opportunity to mentor younger golfers, embodying the ethos of giving back. Through this program, participants will not only improve their own skills but also experience professional growth by leading and managing golf events. Contact Coach Nate for more information or to sign up at cojgagolf@gmail.com.

GIRLS GOLF (Ages 4-17) – With curriculum developed by the LPGA and USGA, GIRLS GOLF offers young ladies the opportunity to engage with the game of golf in a low-stress environment. Our goal is to create a community of young golfers who love the game and are excited to learn in a positive group setting. We’ll teach more than just golf fundamentals including valuable life skills like confidence and perseverance. After school program sessions start April 4 and run throughout the summer. No experience or equipment is necessary.

Tournament Series

Perhaps what COJGA is best known for is its longstanding tournament series, offering a competitive platform for junior golfers of all abilities, promoting integrity, learning, and personal development through golf. With individual and team divisions, the series is designed to provide enriching experiences that contribute to the growth of participants. The tournament series kicks off on April 28 at Pronghorn.

Free Golf Clinics

We are excited to offer complimentary golf learning events throughout the summer in Madras, Prineville, and La Pine. The purpose of these events is to get more kids having fun with a golf club in their hands and building community around the game of golf. Parents and kids should come with a great attitude and willingness to learn and meet new people. No experience or equipment is necessary.

Registration and Event Information

All COJGA juniors must sign up as a member to register for events (including free golf clinics, learning programs, and tournaments). Membership is free for exposure events and $89 for team and individual events. Events are $30-$40 and include access to the practice facility before the round, a 9 or 18-hole round of golf, prizes, and a light meal (usually consisting of a hot dog and chips or equivalent) after the round. To sign up, visit www.cojga.org.
