No new coronavirus deaths in Oregon for second day in a row

PORTLAND, Ore. – For the second day in a row, the Oregon Health Authority is reporting no new deaths from coronavirus in the state.

Health officials have noted nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and three additional presumptive cases in Oregon, bringing the state’s total number of patients to 3,623.

As of Sunday, the state’s death toll remains at 137 victims.

As of Saturday morning, there were 56 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 25 of them were in the intensive care unit.

The OHA is distributing a new experimental drug, remdesivir, to some patients hospitalized by the virus. Initial clinical tests show some patients had faster recoveries when given the drug.

According to the state, most of the new cases were reported in Multnomah County.

On Friday, 31 of the state’s 36 counties entered “Phase One” of Governor Kate Brown’s reopening plan.
