A 58-year-old woman is dead – shot and killed north of Bend.
Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies say they have a person of interest in Valerie Peterson’s death detained at the hospital.
The shooting happened late yesterday morning on McGrath Road.
Peterson is the second woman shot and killed is the last five days in the Bend-area – a Sisters woman died in a Saturday shooting.
